<p>Hello from The Studio That!</p> <p>We’re a small UK indie studio working on our debut game, and we’re looking for a highly experienced Senior 3D Artist to take ownership of environment asset creation and visual development. This is a short-term, flexible part-time freelance role running until March 26.</p> <p style="margin-top:2em;"></p> <p><strong>ABOUT THE GAME</strong></p> <p>The game is a dark herbalist simulator set in 1500s rural England. The player must survive plagues and famine while navigating village suspicion as witchcraft hysteria spreads. The art direction draws from early Renaissance painting, featuring bright unmodulated colours, tight brushwork, and deliberately off-kilter perspectives. The world is built fully in 3D and navigated through fixed-perspective views.</p> <p style="margin-top:2em;"></p> <p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p> <ul><li>Independently take ownership of 3D environment and foliage asset creation from concept through final implementation, based on detailed briefs</li><li>Model, sculpt, and texture assets to achieve a brushwork-inspired, painterly style consistent with the game’s visual direction</li><li>Collaborate closely with the Technical Artist and Creative Director to ensure assets integrate properly with shaders and rendering techniques</li><li>Proactively propose and execute creative solutions to visual challenges during prototyping</li><li>Maintain a consistent high level of detail and artistic quality across the prototype's assets</li></ul> <p style="margin-top:2em;"></p> <p><strong>REQUIREMENTS</strong></p> <ul><li>6+ years of professional experience as a 3D Artist in game development</li><li>Strong sculpting, modelling, and texturing skills, with a good understanding of stylized and painterly aesthetics</li><li>Proficiency with Unity, especially URP (Universal Render Pipeline)</li><li>Proven ability to take a brief independently from concept through to completion</li><li>UK tax residency with the ability to invoice as a UK-based freelancer</li></ul> <p style="margin-top:2em;"></p> <p><strong>NICE TO HAVE</strong></p> <ul><li>Background or strong interest in art history</li><li>Experience with stylized or painterly art styles in games or other digital media</li><li>Familiarity with environment storytelling and visual composition techniques</li><li>Previous experience working in small indie teams</li></ul> <p style="margin-top:2em;"></p> <p><strong>SALARY</strong></p> <p>Day rate: ~£300, depending on experience.</p> <p>Around 2–3 days a week, ~8 day trial period, expanding to approx. 20–30 days in total.</p> <p style="margin-top:2em;"></p> <p><strong>RESTRICTIONS</strong></p> <p>This is a fully remote position; however, due to funding restrictions, we can only consider applicants living and paying tax in the UK.</p> <p style="margin-top:2em;"></p> <p><strong>HOW TO APPLY</strong></p> <p>Please click the apply button and complete the application form.
