The Role
This is a fully remote position. Our client is looking to hire a motivated, commercially minded newly qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with proven experience in an accountancy practice. The successful candidate will take ownership of a portfolio of SME clients, acting as a trusted point of contact and providing hands-on advisory support to help business owners make confident financial decisions.
This role suits someone who enjoys being client-facing and wants to develop further into an advisory-led position. Due to continued growth, the role is expected to evolve and offer increased responsibility for the right person.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of SME clients across a range of sectors
- Acting as the primary point of contact for client queries and maintaining proactive relationships
- Providing tailored advisory support, including cashflow planning, structuring, tax efficiency, and business growth guidance
- Reviewing and preparing year-end accounts, management accounts, VAT returns, and self-assessments
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and reporting requirements
- Identifying opportunities to add value and introduce additional services where appropriate
- Collaborating with internal colleagues to ensure a smooth, high-quality client experience
- Keeping up to date with changes in accounting and tax legislation and communicating relevant updates to clients
Skills & Experience Required
- Newly qualified ACA, ACCA, or CIMA
- Accountancy practice experience is essential
- Strong technical grounding in accounting standards and tax principles
- Confident communicator with the ability to build trust with clients
- Highly organised, able to manage multiple deadlines and client priorities
- Commercially aware with a genuine interest in supporting SME owners
- Experience with cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) is beneficial
