About AI training work

AI training (also called data labeling or human feedback work) is the human side of building modern AI: people create, review, and rate examples that models learn from. Projects span many formats — text, images, audio, and model response evaluation (RLHF).

This role focuses on evaluating AI-generated biological content: you will judge correctness, reasoning, and clarity, and provide model solutions and expert feedback to improve AI behavior.

The role

OpenTrain AI is hiring a contractor-level Biology AI Content Evaluator to review and rate text-based AI outputs for biological accuracy and reasoning. You will assess model answers, identify conceptual or methodological errors, fact-check claims, and produce high-quality biological explanations and model solutions.

Work is remote and worldwide. Projects are contract-based and vary in duration and workload; assignments involve evaluating text responses and contributing to RLHF-style rating and comparison tasks.

What you'll do

  • Evaluate AI-generated answers for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to prompts.
  • Identify errors in methodology, conceptual understanding, or biological reasoning.
  • Fact-check biological claims using public scientific and technical sources.
  • Write clear, correct model solutions and step-by-step biological explanations.
  • Rate or compare multiple AI responses for correctness and reasoning quality.
  • Provide constructive feedback to improve model outputs and labeling consistency.

Requirements

This role has firm technical requirements; candidates who do not meet them will not qualify.

  • BS degree or higher in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, or a closely related life-science field.
  • Degree must be from a top 100 university.
  • Strong knowledge of human biology, animal biology, molecular pathways, physiology, and disease/health fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate biological reasoning and step-by-step scientific problem solving.
  • Experience with lab, experimental, or research-based reasoning in biology or related life sciences.
  • Strong fact-checking ability using public scientific and technical sources.
  • Excellent written English skills (C1 proficiency or higher) and ability to explain advanced biological concepts clearly.
  • Comfortable reviewing AI-generated answers for correctness, clarity, prompt adherence, and conceptual soundness.

Preferred experience

  • Prior experience in data labeling, RLHF, AI model evaluation, or similar AI training workflows is preferred.
  • Familiarity with evaluation/rating tasks for text generation or question-answering workflows.

Compensation, format, and next steps

Compensation is hourly in USD. Typical/target pay is $45/hr with an expected range of $25–$55/hr depending on project and experience. This is a contractor role.

Work focuses on TEXT data and label types include EVALUATION_RATING, TEXT_GENERATION, QUESTION_ANSWERING, and RLHF. Specific labeling software may vary by project.
