The purpose of the position is wildland fire suppression/management/control as a specialized firefighter with responsibility for the operation and maintenance of specialized tools or equipment.

Duties listed are at full performance grade GW-05 level.
Serve as a wildland firefighter on a handcrew or other related fire suppression module assigned to suppress the full range of difficulty and complexity of fires.
Perform fire suppression and/or fuels management duties under the most adverse conditions of climate, fuels, and terrain. Perform project work such as fuel inventory, prepare associated reports, and hazard fuel reduction projects
Operate and maintain specialized equipment used to respond to wildland and prescribed fire situations.
Collect information on weather data, topography, fuel types, and fire behavior in responding to wildland fire incidents.
Perform duties of a qualified chain saw operator and chainsaw repair technician.
Requirements
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

This is a drug testing designated position. You will be subject to pre-employment and random drug testing. Appointment is based on a negative result. This announcement constitutes 30 days advance notice.
Must pass the Work Capacity Test for certain Interagency Fire Program Management or Fire Program Management positions.
Willing to live/work in remote locations (volatile/unpredictable).
