Through its integrated system of 25 health centers and four hospitals - and expanded network of community partner clinics – DHS annually provides direct care for over 600,000 unique patients, employs over 23,000 staff, and has an annual budget of over $6.9 billion. In addition, to its direct clinical services, DHS also runs the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency and the County's 911 emergency response system, as well as Housing for Health and the Office of Diversion and Re-entry, each with a critical role in connecting vulnerable populations, including those released from correctional and institutional settings, to supportive housing. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>MISSION: </strong> </p><p>To advance the health of our patients and our communities by providing extraordinary care. </p><p><br></p><p><strong>DEFINITION:</strong> </p><p>Operates or assists in the operation of a store or warehouse.</p>Supervises and may participate in the receiving, checking, storing, and issuance of a variety of supplies.<p>Analyzes perpetual inventory and other records and makes determination of optimum stock levels to be maintained, and items to be added or removed from stock.</p><p>Initiates timely requisitions for replenishment of supplies and follows up on delays.</p><p>Coordinates storekeeping functions with needs of operating units.</p><p>Supervises and participates in the maintenance and adjustment of stock records.</p><p>Supervises or conducts periodic physical inventories of supplies.</p><p>Supervises the operation of the salvage warehouse, and assists in the disposal of unusable County property.</p><p>Supervises and participates in the acquisition, tagging, and the preparation of records for the County Auditor of property assigned to a County department, conducting periodic inventories, and processing and maintaining records showing present location, transfer, or disposal of such property.</p><p>Maintains physical custody of items not assigned to an operating unit.</p><p>Prepares reports as required.</p><p>Participates in the procurement of capital outlay and fixed asset equipment as needed.</p><p>Operates forklifts and other materials-handling equipment and train subordinates the safe and efficient use of this equipment as needed.</p><p>Conducts periodic "tailgate safety sessions" regarding safe use of forklifts, electric trucks, pallet dollies and response to spills to toxic or possible toxic materials being handled or stored.</p><p id="isPasted"><strong><u>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:</u></strong> </p><p>One (1) year of storekeeping, procurement or related experience at the level of Warehouse Worker I* or Procurement Aid**.</p><p> </p><p>*Experience at the level of the County of Los Angeles class of Warehouse Worker I is defined as: Performs a full-range of Journey-level duties which include operating a store or warehouse, or section of a large storage facility; maintaining property records for a department; receiving and packing a variety of items, and arranging the details of shipments via common carrier or the postal service; or assisting a higher level warehouse worker by acting as a full-time lead person over a crew of helpers.</p><p> </p><p>**Experience at the level of the County of Los Angeles class of Procurement Aid is defined as: Prepares various procurement documents and maintains related clerical records and controls.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>LICENSE:</u></strong> </p><p>A valid California Class C Driver License may be required for some position required to drive as a job-related essential function of their position.</p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>PHYSICAL CLASS III - MODERATE:</u></strong> </p><p>This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional listing of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds. </p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:</u></strong></p><p>Additional points will be awarded for additional experience beyond the Minimum Requirements.</p><p id="isPasted"><strong><u>EXAMINATION CONTENT:</u></strong> </p><p>This examination will consist of two (2) parts: Candidates must pass Part I to proceed to Part II of the assessment.</p><p><strong>Part I:</strong> This assessment type will evaluate the training and experience you list on your application and assign a score based on a standardized scoring system. This part of the assessment is worth 50% of your total score and assess: Application information and desirable qualifications.</p><p><strong>Part II:</strong> This assessment type is called an Appraisal of Promotability, and it involves your management evaluating your readiness for this position. This part of the assessment is worth 50% of your total score and assess: Knowledge and Skills, Verbal/Written Communication & Comprehension, Problem Solving, Adaptability and Dependability, and Supervision. </p><p><strong>The passing score for the assessment – OR – assessment part is 70%.</strong></p><p><br></p><p><strong><u>ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION</u></strong><strong>: </strong></p><p><strong>Applications will be processed as they are received and added to the list accordingly. </strong></p><p>Candidates who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a register in the order of their score group for a period of (12) months.
