About the position

The Quality Engineer will lead the quality department at O'Neal Manufacturing Services, focusing on understanding and meeting the needs of both the company and its customers. This role involves implementing process improvements, managing quality goals, mentoring staff, and ensuring effective communication across departments to enhance overall efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Implement effective process improvements using new approaches, considering organizational issues and external factors.

  • Define resources necessary for project completion and design experimental programs to optimize evaluation and implementation of new processes or products.

  • Plan, organize, and manage the achievement of quality goals, providing direction in the design and application of new technologies.
  • ,
  • Mentor and provide ongoing teaching, guidance, and assistance to others in the quality department.
  • ,
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external individuals, adjusting communication based on the audience's level of understanding.
  • ,
  • Identify quality roadblocks impacting departmental efficiencies and work cross-functionally to develop process improvements.
  • ,
  • Monitor and understand the impact of expenditures on business results and customer satisfaction, leading efforts to develop work processes and procedures.
  • ,
  • Integrate customer needs and quality objectives into business objectives and take action to meet customer expectations.
  • ,
  • Stay current on changes, innovations, and trends in focus areas through networking and continuing education events.
  • ,
  • Supervise Quality Technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • ,
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • ,
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • ,
  • High level of proficiency with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing); certification or training preferred.
  • ,
  • Experience with FARO or other CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) equipment.
  • ,
  • Experience with various quality processes including FMEA, PPAP, FAI, FPY, and Advanced Control Plans.
  • ,
  • Understanding of ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • ,
  • Experience with calibration or measuring software, such as PolyWorks and GAGEpack preferred.
  • ,
  • Experience with welding inspection and creating Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS) preferred.
  • ,
  • Conversational English required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certificate or training in GD&T preferred.
  • ,
  • Experience with calibration or measuring software such as PolyWorks and GAGEpack preferred.
