Who are we looking for?

Are you a natural storyteller who knows how to capture media attention? We are seeking a Part-Time Publicist to help raise visibility and expand media coverage for our projects. The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, and experienced in pitching stories that resonate.

Responsibilities:

• Draft press releases, media advisories, and targeted story pitches


• Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets across print, digital, and broadcast


• Secure interviews, op-eds, and features that highlight our work and mission


• Identify timely opportunities to position our projects within relevant news cycles


• Track media mentions and compile simple performance reports


• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure messaging is consistent and aligned across all channels
  
  

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in public relations, media outreach, or journalism (advocacy or campaign experience is a plus)


• Strong writing and communication skills with a talent for compelling pitches


• A network of media contacts or demonstrated ability to build strong press relationships quickly


• Solid understanding of news cycles, political and cultural trends, and how to leverage them for media coverage


• Highly organized, persistent, and results-oriented


• Ability to work independently, remotely, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
