3 hours on a Sunday afternoon to start with (around 1.30/2-4.30/5pm). If things go well there may be the option for additional hours.
Service user requires support with all personal care needs and will need support from the PA to toilet, dress, brush teeth gastrostomy feeds.
Service user is unable to communicate verbally but is able to understand what is being said to her. She can communicate yes and no using hand squeezes.
I will offer training initially to support the PA in all these areas as they get to know service user and her communication.
Service user is able to express enjoyment through smiles and laughter and discomfort or pain through cries.
Service user requires support with any leisure activities. Some hours will be to support service user to access IT and also through direct contact with friends, listening to music, watching films, playing games and some trips out of the home environment.
Main duties · Personal Care- PA should be female · Feeding through gastrostomy · Administering medication and monitoring health needs · Help to engage in social and leisure activities including playing games, watching films, reading, socialising with friends, trips out. · Providing companionship · To enable service user to participate more independently in family activities within the home (not relying on parental intervention). If service user requires parental attention/ specific medical intervention from parents- to support parents by engaging with other children at this moment so service user needs can be met.
· Around service user epilepsy care plan. (Including differentiating epileptic from Retts seizures)Epilepsy agreement- whilst the nature of seizures mean they are unpredictable , we will not knowingly leave service user in the care of the PA if she is having regular epileptic seizures.
