Medical Coders

Job Title: Medical Coder (Inpatient/Outpatient) – Remote

Location: Bronx, NY 10461

Work Arrangement

• Initial onsite training: 1–2 weeks (flexible per Hiring Manager)
• Remote work: After successful completion of training
• Must be able to work independently once remote

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze inpatient and outpatient medical records for accurate coding
• Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes in compliance with regulations
• Utilize EPIC and 3M coding systems effectively
• Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Specialists (CDS) to clarify documentation and ensure coding accuracy
• Ensure compliance with AHIMA, CMS, and HIPAA guidelines
• Identify and resolve coding discrepancies
• Support audits and quality improvement initiatives
• Maintain accurate documentation and meet productivity standards

Required Qualifications

• CCS certification (required)
• Minimum of 5 years of professional medical coding experience
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding guidelines
• ED (Emergency Department) Coding Experience -- 4 Years required in Recent
• Hands-on experience with EPIC and 3M systems – 4 Years required in Recent
• Proven inpatient coding experience (outpatient experience strongly preferred)
• High School Diploma or GED required
