We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Maintenance Operative Manager to oversee the maintenance operations across multiple car dealership sites. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong background in facilities management and maintenance, who is passionate about maintaining high standards, leading a team, and ensuring the upkeep of the dealership premises to the highest standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Management: Lead and manage a team of maintenance operatives, ensuring tasks are delegated effectively and completed to a high standard. Provide guidance, training, and performance reviews for the team.
Site Maintenance Oversight: Manage the upkeep of dealership showrooms, service areas, public spaces, and external grounds across multiple locations, ensuring all sites are well-maintained and presentable.
Maintenance Scheduling & Planning: Develop and implement maintenance schedules, including routine inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance, ensuring all tasks are completed with minimal disruption to the business.
Project Management: Oversee larger projects, such as renovations, refurbishments, or major repairs. Ensure work is completed within budget, on time, and to the required standards.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to health and safety regulations. Carry out risk assessments and ensure that safe working practices are followed at all times.
Customer Service: Ensure maintenance work in customer-facing areas is completed to the highest standards, delivering an excellent experience for both internal and external customers.
Inventory & Equipment Management: Oversee the safe storage, use, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials across all sites. Ensure an adequate supply of stock and manage ordering processes to prevent shortages.
Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and any health and safety compliance checks. Provide regular reports to senior management on site conditions and any emerging issues.
Budget & Cost Control: Manage the budget for maintenance across all sites, ensuring cost-effective solutions are found without compromising quality or safety. Keep track of expenditure and ensure proper use of resources.
Experience & Skills Needed:
Proven experience in facilities management or general maintenance, ideally within the automotive or retail industry.
Strong practical skills in general plumbing, painting, electrical work, carpentry, and other trade skills.
Experience managing a maintenance team, including delegation, scheduling, and providing ongoing training and development.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple sites and priorities effectively.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to liaise with team members, management, and external contractors.
Ability to work independently and use initiative to resolve problems.
In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations, ensuring compliance across all sites.
A valid UK driving licence is required, as travel between sites will be necessary.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications:
City & Guilds, NVQ, or similar qualifications in maintenance or a related discipline.
Experience with maintenance management software or systems.
First Aid at Work qualification.
Prior experience managing maintenance operations across multiple locations.
Experience with project management, particularly within the facilities or construction sector.
