DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This Administration Assistant Intern role is a fast paced entry into the Assistant world for a very busy Deputy Secretary and Deputate. You will learn what it takes to help make sure important projects move forward, communication stays clear across multiple bureaus, and high-level operations keep state government running smoothly. With our team, you will perform the following duties:
  • Scheduling and Preparation: Maintain and organize the Deputy Secretary’s calendar including scheduling meetings, confirming attendee availability, and preparing materials such as agendas, talking pints, and background packets
  • Meeting Support: Attend selected meetings to take notes, summarize discussions, and prepare follow-up materials
  • Executive Exposure: Observe decision making processes and inter-bureau coordination activities
  • Project Assistance: Support special projects by gathering information, drafting materials, and tracking progress
  • Communication Support: Draft clear, professional summaries, reminders, and basic correspondence for internal and external audiences
  • Task Monitoring: Assist with tracking deadlines, action items, and priorities across multiple bureaus and liaison areas

  • Internship for Summer or Fall 2026
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Work hours and telework schedule can be discussed at interview.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be expected to work in the office a minimum of two to three days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:

  • You must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program full-time or part-time by the start of the internship.
  • You must be in good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.5 or higher).
Additional Requirement:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualification (not required):
  • Majoring in Public Administration, Business Administration, Management, Political Science, Communications, English, Writing, or related field
